Expédition Ivarus
A Minecraft LAN produced by Skytale, the team behind Celestale, with Equinox Studios and Gaming Campus
108 players locked in a floor of the Grande Arche for 3 days, sent to survive on a desert planet built for the occasion. A custom game, physical challenges in the room, 20 hours of live broadcast.
The biggest event the team has ever produced
3 days of survival on Ivarus, sixth planet of system zero. Players take on the role of Horizon Corporation's expendable recruits, sent to collect a few samples on a hostile rock, “in complete safety”. The game, the lore, the challenges in the room and the live control room were all produced in one go, for a single weekend.
A game built for the event
Not an adapted game mode: a full production on Minecraft, with its own geology, economy, arsenal and onboard companion. Each team starts with an oxygen generator, a capsule and 20 minutes of air.

Breathing comes first
The oxygen generator draws the only breathable bubble in the crater. It runs on biomass and upgrades across 8 tiers, each widening the explorable perimeter. Teams pushed it to tier 6.57 on average.

Drill, upgrade, wait
7 ores that cannot be mined by hand: aluminium, lead, silicon, tungsten, cobalt, silver, titanium. You have to build drills, place them on deposits and wait for the drilling updates sent by Horizon.

Pyl, the onboard AI
Damaged in the crash, she boots in minimal mode: dry reports, oxygen alerts, zero empathy. Her 3 modules, scattered across the crater, level her up and shift her personality until she turns downright chatty.

The venue
A crater inside La Défense
A whole floor of the Grande Arche, opened up by Gaming Campus: a room of 108 stations, a shooting stage, a control room and a painted set in the colours of Ivarus. Players slept there, played there and lost track of time.
Between game sessions the room switched to stage mode: 8 physical challenges, refereed on mic, whose points fed straight back into the in-game ranking.
6 challenges, written into the lore
Every challenge in the room is justified by the mission: a survival test, an onboard failure, a solar storm. The party game is the pretext, the fiction does the rest.
Opening cinematic
The film that opens the expedition
Before the first swing of a pickaxe, the 108 players meet their employer: Horizon Corporation, “the undisputed leader in space exploration”, selling its philosophy in a flawless corporate film. Then the capsule drops too early, and the onboard voice announces that the landing went “almost without incident”.
Made entirely in Minecraft with our in-house editor, voiced by a cast of actors, and premiered live at the opening of the 3 days.
The streamers of the expedition
More than 12 creators came to play for 3 days in a team, on the same terms as every other participant, and broadcast the expedition from inside the Arche.
